The Tadpole Shrimp lives it's entire life in small pools of water. When they are born, they grow quickly, reaching adulthood in about a week. They also die very quickly, usually within 2 months. The eggs can sit waiting indefinitely for rain. Once there is enough water pressure, the Tadpole Shrimp eggs spring to life.

They are found on the tops of ancient mesas, in pools that were usually formed by water dripping from cliffs and caves that are no longer present.
