This bird was seen in Utah. It is found all throughout the USA and Mexico.

General information about House Finch :

These birds love the salsify flower seeds. They will strip off the parachute-like achenes in minutes.

This bird has adapted to coexist with humans.

They love dandelions and stinging nettle.

The house finch gets it red (to sometimes yellow) from the fruits and berries that it eats.

The house finch is one of the only native birds that can defend itself against the aggressive sparrow.

I'd say that was simply a male House Finch that has tended towards the orange coloration instead of it's normal red coloration. I think I remember reading in a bird book that they do that on occasion.;
