Description

Black with a red hourglass on their belly. Black widows have 8 eyes, in two rows of four.

General information about Black Widow :

Latrodectus Hesperus, the Western black widow spider or Western widow, is a species of venomous spider found western regions of the United States of America. The female's body is 1416 millimetres in length, the male is around half this size, and is black; often with an hourglass shaped red mark on the lower abdomen. The population was previously described as a subspecies of Latrodectus Mactans and it is closely related to the northern species Latrodectus variolus.

The biggest threat the Black Widow poses is when the female has an eggsack, and the gardener doesn't see the web and sticks their hand into it. Other than that it is hard to get the Black Widow to be aggressive.

Outside of their webs they are completely harmless, as they don't even try to defend themselves
The Black Widow is timid and won't attack people unless the egg sack is in danger, then the gardener could get bit. If bit, the gardener will be in some serious pain for 3 days or so, and in some rare cases might even die.

How to get rid of it:
They can be killed by spraying, or smashing. They do not jump, and are incredibly slow when out of their nest. They do not attack when out of their nest.
