General information about Gopher Tortoise :

The gopher tortoise is an endangered and protected species. (As far as Florida goes.)
They can weigh about 30 pounds and can grow up to about a foot long. They live in dry areas where they dig holes in the ground to live in, (burrows), which also provide shelter for many other species of animals as well. Such as the Indigo Snake (also listed under my animals.)
They have a live span of about 100 years as well.
