Inflorescence

Gardening and Botanical Terms Dictionary

Definition of Inflorescence : An inflorescence is a group of flowers. Instead of a single (solitary) flower like a lily, an inflorescence is a cluster of flowers, arranged on a stem. The stem is either a single branch, or can be a complicated configuration of branches.
Solitary flowers are flowers without inflorescence. A solitary flower's stalk is called a 'peduncle'.
