Taube Lace Cap Hydrangea
Taube Lace Cap Hydrangea October 09, 2010
Hydrangea flowers bloom from early spring through late fall. The coloration depends on the pH of the soil. Acidic soil will produce flowers which appear to be blue, neutral pH will produce pale petals, and alkaline soils produce flowers which appear pink to purple. The hydrangea is known as a hyperaccumulator and the change in pigment depends on the amount of aluminum ions present in the soil. The roots and leaves of certain Hydrangea species are known to have some medicinal value. However, it i Taube Lace Cap Hydrangea

Cape Daisy
  Cape Daisy June 15, 2010
Cultivation: Plants prefer a warm and sunny position and rich soil, although they tolerate poor soil, salt or drought well. Modern cultivars flower continuously when watered and fertilised well, and dead-heading is not necessary, because they do not set seed easily. If planted in a container, soil should be prevented from drying out completely. If they do, the plants will go into "sleep mode" and survive the period of drought, but they will abort their flower buds and not easily come b Cape Daisy

C. forbesii resembles C. siehei, which is regarded as part of the same species by some botanists. For those who differentiate the two taxa, C. forbesii differs by having fewer, smaller upward-facing flowers, which are a deep blue, rather than violet-blue. Forbes' Glory-of-the-snow

Common chicory is also known as blue sailors, succory, and coffeeweed. It is also called cornflower, although that name is more properly applied to Centaurea cyanus. The cultivated forms are grown for their leaves (var. foliosum), or for the roots (var. sativum), which are baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute and additive. Common names for varieties of var. foliosum include endive, radicchio, Belgian endive, French endive, red endive, sugarloaf or witloof. Root chicory (Cichorium i Common Chicory
