AKA cinder conk The sterile conk is irregularly formed and has the appearance of burnt charcoal. The fertile fruitbody can be found very rarely as a resupinate (crustose) fungus on or near the clinker, usually appearing after the host tree is completely dead. Herbalist David Winston maintains that it is the strongest anti-cancer medicinal mushroom. In 2005, I. obliquus was evaluated for its potential for protecting against oxidative damage to DNA in human lymphocytes. The study found that |

I have no idea what kind it is. Please help me identify it. I am extremely allergic to mold and I'm afraid these may be the culprit for my breathing attacks. They are grouped together and have skinny stems. They do have gills and not sponge/pores under the cap. The center of the cap is a light yellow and it seems to fade as it moves toward the edges of the cap. |

About 4-5 in. tall; Salmon/pink in color. Stem is fibrous and lighter salmon/pink. Crown is about 1 in. in width and darker maybe closer to "rusty salmon." |

My fiance and I "discovered" this mushroom in the Enchantment Lakes area of Leavenworth, Washington. This particular mushroom was not part of a cluster, but there were a few small clusters a few feet away. We loved the colors !!! |

Cap on this picture is about 10-12 inches across. Others in group varied from 3 or 4 inches up. Smaller ones were closed, like the one Alice's caterpillar sat on, some were flat, the largest ones looked like this. None were red, the orange color was actually a lttle more vivid than this photo. This is a cell photo, I didn't have my camera along, so a friend snapped the pic. My ID problem is that the red ones are the large, but the yellow-orange ones aren't supposed to get this big. Any idea |

Large, white, round, styrofoam like mushroom. When the mushroom begins to crack is when it is edible. Texture when fried is like a marshmallow. |

Green Fruticose Tree Lichen Wolf Lichen is poisonous, but it would take a bit to poison yourself. If you eat a small amount raw, it will taste so disgusting that you'd probably vomit or spit it out. If you do hold it down, you will get an incredibly painful stomache ache. All lichen will give you a stomache ache, you have to prepare them. Each lichen has a differing amounts of acid which requires a specific amount of neutralization. Most lichen is edible, (Wolf Lichen is not) but it must b |

Found this big glob of a fungus on my mulch under my Japanese Maple. It was very large -- about one and one half feet in length. Later it got red droplets. I have never been able to find out what it is. |
