Location

The plant is currently located in S. Florida (although may not be native). It is in my front, western facing, yard. Even with the strong, hot western exposure the plant is shaded by a wood fence and other shrubbery.

Physical Description
It is a very rapidly growing plant. When the plant is cut back it grows back within a month or two. It has actually gotten quite large and this is why I am questioning if it is a small tree. The 'trunk' of the plant at the ground level is larger than I would expect a bush to get. At this point it is maybe 5" or 6" in diameter. It has white flowers but at this time I don't have any more information on the flowers. It is currently growing on the west side of my house and because of the fenceline and other growth is actually quite shaded. I've tried to cut a bit off of the plant and root it in water but this hasn't been successful.

General Information

the apple green leaves are heart shaped and fold up like a butterfly with lack of sunlight or lack of water oxygen. they have obvoius 'veins' in the leaves that stretch out opposite each other.
