Sweet marjoram is a shrubby tender perennial that grows to about 1' tall with wiry, red-brown stems and downy gray-green aromatic leaves. It produces tiny white flowers on clustered spikes in summer.
Aromatic herb belonging to the mint family. Wild marjoram (O. vulgare) is found in both Europe and Asia and has become naturalized in the Americas; the sweet marjoram (O. majorana) used in cooking is widely cultivated.
