General Information

Fruit is edible raw. It is mostly seeds, but the seeds are soft and nutritious.

It has a sweet flavor. Up to 10 mm in diameter and is leathery rather than pulpy.
Looks like a member of the Lily Family (Liliaceae), but it isn't.
An infusion of the leaves has been used as a wash for wounds whilst a poultice of the dampened bruised leaves has been applied to bleeding wounds.
It can grow in full shade (deep woodland) or semi-shade (light woodland). It requires moist soil.
