Mutinus Genus

Location

I found it in my flower bed on the north side of my house. I live in S. Illinois

Physical Description
Hollow pink shoot with gray-green coating on top third. 1/2 inch diameter, currently 2 inches tall

General Information

I found a pink shoot in my garden this morning. It's maybe 1 2 inch in diameter and 2 inches tall. It appears hollow with a small opening at the tip. And is a gray green coating covering most of the top 1 2. There is also an unpleasant odor coming from this same general area. We've had a cooler and wetter spring than usual but it's now suddenly 90 degreess.

Thank you! I dug them up and removed some of the moldly mulch around the area. Hopefully I won't get any more. YUCK!
