Location

This plant is located in Portland, Oregon and is found throughout much of the United States. According to Wikipedia's page for the plant it is native to "eastern Asia including China (northern and eastern P.R.China and Taiwan), Japan, and Korea." (Wikipedia)
It has also become has become naturalized all over the world including Oceana (New Zealand and Australia), South America (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico)and islands of the Pacific and Caribbean. In these areas it is widely considered to be an invasive species, outcompeting the native honeysuckles.
It is generally controlled by cutting or burning the plant to its root every two weeks until its nutriment reserves are depleted.


Physical Description
The flowers are double-toungued. When they first open they appear to be white and then fade to yellow. The leaves are oval, about 3-8 centimeters (1.23.1 in) in length and 23 centimetres (0.791.2 in)wide. They also produce fruit - globular, dark berries about 58 millimetres (0.200.31 in)in diameter. Their fruits contain many seeds.

General Information

The flowers and leaves also have medicinal value in China. When paired with Forsythia suspensa it is used to "dispel heat and remove toxins". In Chinese medicine it is called Jinn Yin Hua and has "antitoxin, anti-bacterial, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties", used in treatment of "fevers, skin rashes, and sore throat"(Wikipedia).
