Fruit: apple-shaped, small, 34 cm diameter.

The fruit is a pome with five carpels; it ripens in late autumn.

The fruit looks like a little quince apple and contains more vitamin C than a lemon.

The leaves are alternately arranged, simple, and have a serrated margin. The flowers are 34.5 cm diameter, with five petals, and are usually bright orange-red, but can be white or pink; flowering is in late winter or early spring.

It is hard and sour when it is raw. If done right, this fruit can be made into liqueurs, marmalade and preserves.

It tastes like a cross between a pear and a lemon. It is actually quite good raw, but would taste better with some sugar etc.
