The plant genus Tillandsia, a member of the Bromeliad family (Bromeliaceae), is found in the deserts, forests and mountains of Central and South America, and Mexico and the southern United States in North America. Portulaca Flower
  Portulaca Flower May 28, 2009
Seeds may be sown at the end of April and the seedlings thinned to be 4 inches apart. The seed should not be deeply covered. The plants are of a creeping habit, the leaves being moss like and almost hidden by the flowers. The seeds, which resemble iron filings, have a metallic lustre and are produced in a small, boxlike capsule; when ripe the lid falls off and reveals them. Moss rose is the most common portulaca you may find. Don’t fertilize too much; it will encourage plants to produce th Portulaca Flower

Trailing African Daisy
Trailing African Daisy April 28, 2009
O. fruticosum 'Whirligig' Trailing African Daisy - Strange Exotic Flower This flower starts out like a normal daisy, but after it blooms the petals start to curl over, creating the Whiligig look. I've found this flower on-line, but many were calling it the "Blue Bell Tunicate", which is incorrect. This is an extremely exotic looking flower. How very strange and creative it is. Spreads rapidly from cuttings. Osteospermum means Bone-Seeds. Trailing African Daisy

Sensitive Plant, Sleeping Grass
Sensitive Plant, Sleeping Grass April 03, 2009
After dark, when this plant is touched, it will fold it's leaves up. Many other stimuli can cause this plant to fold up as well. If it is touched in sunlight, however, it won't react. It does this by removing a liquid known as turgor from the pulvinus (parenchyma cells) at the base of the petiole. This causes the leaves to contract inwards, thus folding. Although there is no nervous system in this plant, there is evidence that there is electrical activity that passes up and down t Sensitive Plant, Sleeping Grass
